JOINING CBMW

All you need to do is:

  • Look at the programme; first read the descriptions of the walk categories (which are given at the start of the programme), and then select a walk that is appropriate for your level of walking.
  • Please be aware that our walks are graded for MOUNTAIN WALKERS, so a walk that is graded “easy” can take up to 4 and a half hours, and up to 200m of ascent; it won’t be a gentle half-hour pre-lunch stroll!
  • If you are not sure whether a walk is appropriate for you, it is always better to start with an easier walk, and build up to more strenuous walks as you get used to walking in the mountains.
  • Please remember you walk at your own risk; our walk leaders are all volunteers, and are there to show you the route.
  • If you have any questions about the walk then contact the leader in advance (you will find their mobile number listed in the programme alongside the walk details), or contact the Secretary at admin@cbmwalkers.org.
  • Arrive at the meeting point (as shown on the programme), at least 15 minutes before the start of the walk, and introduce yourself to the leader(s).
  • You will be asked at the start of your first walk/event to contribute €5 for the cost of a “Fob” that will be your contribution for the season towards the maintenance of the group (website, equipment etc.).
  • Please fill in your details – your name, emergency contact details, and any allergies or medical conditions – on your fob, and attach it to the outside of your rucksack.
