The Spanish Government, as expected, has extended the ‘State of Emergency’ until the 10th of May. At the same time it has announced its de-escalation four stage policy. The first stage commences on the 4th of May and enables adults to go out on walks alone or with one other member of their household, as long as they remain within a one kilometre radius of their home. This relaxation of the rules has been welcomed by all and I know many of you have already been out walking today.
However given that the four stage de-escalation will last until at least until the end of June,
the Secretariat has no choice but to cancel the remaining walks of the Spring Programme. This also includes the End of Season lunch and walks. We also think the Summer Programme is not viable for June and July. We will though keep this under review to see if any events can be planned for August or September.
The work of the Secretariat has continued and we have ordered and received the new Fob wallets, designed and are having printed a CBMW information leaflet for all venues where people are asking for walk information, selected new CBMW T and Polo shirts for sale at our next event and begun work on the planning of the Autumn and Social Events programme. The next electronic Secretariat meeting will be held on the 26th of May,
Keep safe and hope to see you out walking in the Autumn,

Veronica Dunkley
