This week we have received some especially sad news. Juul has passed away in Australia. The only good news about the conclusion of her brave fight against cancer is that her three sons were able to be with her at the end.

Juul was always extremely fit and full of enthusiasm for the great outdoors. As a result, she was to be found mainly on the more demanding excursions of the A Team.  A nasty fall on Segaria once resulted in a broken leg which left her temporarily housebound, but it wasn’t long before she was back on the hills.  She made a full recovery and later was able to join her Spanish walking group on an expedition to complete the ascent of 3700m Teide from sea level within 24 hours.  It was no surprise that she had achieved this challenge which had taken a CBMW group a more leisurely 5 days.

Juul was tough and also enjoyed abseiling, kayaking and any other outdoor sport that required a bit of adventure and a lot of effort.   She walked with us for over ten years

She was a caring, genuine lady, well liked by those who knew her well, who has been taken from us far too soon. We think she was only 62

The funeral will be in Australia but we are planning some form of memorial event here in due course so that everyone who knew her can have the opportunity to pay their respects”
