Clodagh and I are checking out the possibility a short “away” trip to Chulilla and Chelva, an area inland from Valencia. The walks are spectacular, varied and are moderately strenuous.
The programme would be
Tuesday April 9th Drive to Chulilla (approx 150km), and meet at 11 am. River valley/gorge circular walk (Ruta de los Pantaneros, and Val Figueras Circuit) 4.5 hrs, 13km, 500m, M/S B). After walk drive to hotel (25 min).
Wednesday April 10th. Drive to Chelva (25 min) Ruta del Agua, Calles y Peña Cortada 5 hrs 13.5 km, 400m, 5 hrs M/S B). A walk with river features, fine valleys and amazing Roman water features. After walk drive back to hotel (25 min).
Thursday April 11th. Check out of hotel, and then drive to Chulilla (20 min) Circuit de la Cruz (2.5 hrs, 540m, 4.1km M/B) a short but steep circular walk to a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the village, and the Charco Azul gorge. Lunch in Chulilla with possible refreshments at local bar.
Afternoon walk along the spectacular Charco Azul Gorge (2hrs, 147m, 4.6km, E/A), a farewell drink in Chulilla then drive home.
Clodagh and I normally try to offer trips with splendid accommodation and food but this area presented us with a challenge. The only viable accommodation for a group is a motorway hotel which is very clean, has comfortable beds, easy parking, serves basic Spanish meals, is excellent value for money but is still a motorway hotel!
We are hoping to budget this event at no more than 100 Euro per person sharing a double room for 2 nights dinner (including ½ bottle wine each), bed and breakfast.
At this stage of the planning process we are trying to assess what serious interest there is in joining us. If you are really interested please WhatsApp me on 620865267
