CELEBRATING THE SIERRAS – BERNIA – WEDNESDAY 4 NOVEMBER

Sierra Bernia - through and around

DUE TO COVID 19, YOU MUST COMPLETE THE FORM HERE IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO WALK.

The CBMW are organising a series of walking festivals based around the Sierras of the Costa Blanca area, beginning with our iconic Sierra Bernia standing majestically between the Jalon and Algar Valleys. The starting point for all walks, and the lunch venue at end of the walks – GPS 38.6721185, -0.0461897. Meet in the car parking area adjacent to the CV749 located 70m from Serra Bernia restaurant just before you get to the signpost at the end of the road below Bernia mountain. All walkers please bring adequate liquid to drink on the walk and wear proper walking shoes. After the walks we plan to meet at 1430hrs in the car park area for a picnic lunch. Please bring picnic table, chairs, food and refreshments.

Walk 1. Easy- walk will be split into two groups.  Start time at 11.15am and 11.30am Leaders: Geoff Ellis (11.15) tel 696032882 and Martin Connelly(11.30). Tel 669343613

Both walks are the same but the start staggered to reduce group size.

Hiking from Altea la Vella to the Forrat de Bernia - Activa Costa ...

From the car park we take a relaxed walk anti-clockwise around the west end of Bernia on good tracks to the Fort and allowing ample time to enjoy the splendid views towards Albir and Benidorm before returning along the same track for lunch. Approximately 2 hours walk, 4km, 150m ascent. Dogs welcome on lead at the rear.

Walk 2. Moderate – Start time 10.30am  Leader: Martin Dunkley. Tel 44 7066466175

A moderately paced walk in the area below the mountain.  Approx. 3 hours, up to 8km and 300m ascent walked on mostly good paths. Dogs welcome on lead at the rear.

Walk 3. Moderately Strenuous, slower pace. Start time 9.30am  Leader: Verity Waddell. Tel 695059810

DISCOVER THE SIERRA DE BÈRNIA AND ITS SPECTACULAR LANDSCAPES ...

A circuit with an easy scramble up to a spectacular passageway then returning across the flank via the fort with beautiful views of the Severino and Ovenga summits.  Approx. 4.5 hours, 9km, 420m ascent. Dogs welcome on lead at the rear.

Walk 4. Moderately Strenuous, faster pace. Start time 10am. Leaders: Eric and Margaret Ferguson.  Tel 693754069

Same circuit as walk 3, but slightly faster with an easy scramble up to a spectacular passageway then returning across the flank via the fort with beautiful views of the Severino and Ovenga summits.  Approx 4 hours, 9km, 420m ascent. No dogs please.

Bernia circuit extended, anti-clockwise.  On good tracks, visiting a fort and fonts with fantastic views. 13km, ascent 620m, 4 1/2 hours. No dogs please.

Bernia extended but in a clockwise direction.  On good tracks, visiting a fort and fonts with fantastic views. 13km, ascent 620m, 4 hours. Dogs welcome on lead at the rear.
