Spring Walking Festival

Come and join us for our Spring Walking Festival in the beautiful Vall de Laguar with a variety of walks all starting from, or near the village of Benimaurell. After developing an appetite, we will be eating lunch at the Hotel/restaurant Alahuar that overlooks Benimaurell with unrivalled views down to the Mediterranean.

As usual there will be four walks of differing levels to satisfy most walkers these are as follows:

  • Strenuous – Led by Mary Gough – Caballo Verde Ridge

Starting at 9.30am from Venta El Collau restaurant 38.768435, -0.151662

13.5Kms 720mtrs ascent.

A demanding excursion over the western flanks of the Caballo Verde Ridge visiting interesting features normally unfrequented.

  • Moderately strenuous – Led by John Mail –Circular Fleix

Starting 10am from Benimaurell village car park by Bar Les Rogetes ‘old Oasis bar’ 38.773728, -0.127273

9.5Km 480 mtrs ascent. 1000 steps down to drop into the Val Laguar for a banana break then a barranca to negotiate before climbing back up a different 1000 steps in time for lunch at the Hotel.   A lot of the walk on Mozarabic trails with some exposure in parts. Lots to see and plenty of stops for photographs.

  • Moderate – Led by David Harbach – Los tres pueblos

Starting at 10.30am from The Hotel Alahuar

9 Kms 320mtrs ascent. A circular walk visiting Campell and Fleix, a very        pleasant walk and an excellent appetiser before lunch. Some stunning scenery.

  • Easy – Led by John Price – A circuit from Benimaurell via Fleix – clockwise

A very pleasant walk and an excellent appetiser before lunch.  Some stunning scenery. Although this is an easy walk as defined by being only 2 hours and with a total ascent not exceeding 200m there is, however, a steep middle section which will need be taken at a slow pace with ample stops to rest.

Except for David Harbach’s walk (number 3), walkers who are attending lunch after the walk will be required to drive the short distance to the Alahuar Hotel on the outskirts of Benimaurell.

A lunch has been arranged for walkers who are attending the Spring Festival, the menu is outlined below. The cost will be 16€ including tip.

Please make your selection and email Martin and Veronica at social@cbmwalkers.org, once ordered please regard this as a commitment even if the weather stops the walks taking place, we will still enjoy a lunch together. When replying it will be helpful, but not essential, to give an indication of your preferred walk.  Please book before 27th April.
